Oryana Community Co-op is Northern Michigan’s oldest and most trusted source for organic and healthy foods. Oryana began as a food-buying club back in 1973 by a few health conscious families seeking whole foods. Since then, it has grown into a 9000 owner, two location, $26 million, full-service co-op that serves northern Michigan. Nearly 50 years later, Oryana is now the largest source of organic products in northern Michigan. When customers walk in the door (You don’t have to be an owner to shop at Oryana; everyone is welcome), you can be assured of Oryana’s commitment to quality. From the beginning, Oryana has made conscious choices about the products we carry, establishing a level of trust and customer satisfaction along the way.

Our mission is to provide high quality food produced in ecologically sound ways at fair value to owners and the community. Shoppers visit Oryana for the best selection of natural, organic, fair-trade, and locally produced products available. Our definition of ‘local’ is within 100 miles of our store and we carry a large selection of local goods, from organic chocolate to locally roasted, fair-trade coffees, to kombucha, honey, meat, jams, frozen vegetables, and body care products, to name just a few. Our in-house café and bakery offer excellent vegetarian and vegan food made with mostly organic ingredients. Centrally located at the TART trailhead, we are conveniently accessible to pedestrian and bicycle patrons. Although you don’t need to be an owner to shop at Oryana, by joining you’ll have a vote in the co-op’s operation and direction and will be able to enjoy special sales and discounts. Our enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff is committed to providing excellent customer service to all our shoppers.
